Athachamayam

Athachamayam is a cultural festival that offers the uncommon chance to see practically all of Kerala’s indigenous art forms. It’s a lavish ceremony that ushers in the ten-day Onam Festival. The historical event honouring the victory of the Raja (King) of Kochi is held every year in Thripunithura, close to Kochi, on the Atham asterism of the Malayalam month of Chingam (approximately in August/September). The King and his entourage are represented by a spectacular parade. Caparisoned elephants, floats, musical groups, and a range of folk arts are also there to accompany it.
