Events and Festivals

The fierce sounds of the chenda (drums), which are heard throughout the countryside, symbolise Kerala's festival season, which is its pride and delight. In a spectacle that can only be seen in a region known as God's Own Country, elephants march through villages and rivers rumble with enormous 100-foot-long serpent boats. The entire State joins in the celebration as the landscape is draped in an abundance of lights and joy.
