Bekal Fort

bakel fort, kaasargode

The largest and best-preserved fort in all of Kerala is located in Kasaragod, and it is surrounded by a stunning beach. The ancient Bekal Fort, which resembles a huge keyhole, was constructed in the 17th century. This historical landmark’s huge observation towers, which were once home to enormous cannons until a few decades ago, provide a magnificent perspective of the Arabian Sea.

An historic mosque close to the fort is thought to have been constructed by Tipu Sultan of Mysore. The Kadampa Dynasty built the Fort in the past, and it has since been owned by the Kolathiri Rajas, the Vijayanagara Empire, Tipu Sultan, and lastly the British East India Company.

Today, the Bekal Fort and its beautiful environs are quickly growing in popularity as a tourist attraction and a renowned filming location.
